The Elevator riddle- Youngthug03

  • When the summon button is selected, the elevator is called to that floor
  • When a floor button is selected, the elevator will proceed to that floor
  • If multiple floor buttons are chosen, the elevator will go to the closest floor first, and so on.
  • When the summon button is pressed, the elevator will go to the floor that it is selected on 
  • When the elevator gets to a stop or a floor that has summoned it, it will stop and open its doors for 15 seconds. 
  • If the door is pushed or hits something before closing, it will open entirely again and stay open for another 15 seconds. 
  • When the elevator reaches a floor it has been summoned to, doors will open for 15 seconds for the passenger to get on.
  • When the elevator is selected for a specific floor the elevator will go to that floor and open its doors for 15 seconds.
  • If another floor is selected after a trip is completed the elevator will proceed to that floor and then wait to be summoned 
  • If the elevator is summoned while on a trip that has already been selected, it will complete the original trip before going to the floor that has been summoned. 
  • (or just use the stairs lol)

    These are very fine DESCRIPTIONS of how the elevator operates, YoungThug; as such, they’re quite valuable to a HUMAN READER who needs to understand elevator operations and maybe even the logic behind them.

    But they’re NOT INSTRUCTIONS that the elevator would UNDERSTAND and act upon.

    What we’re trying to achieve in this exercise is the text that would address A VERY SPECIFIC AUDIENCE: the elevator.

    In some cases, the fix is simple:
    1. Instead of “When the summon button is selected, the elevator is called to that floor,” which DESCRIBES how the system operates.
    2. You could substitute “When the summon button is selected, PROCEED to the floor that corresponds to that button.”

    The 2) is in INSTRUCTION the elevator could follow. Your AUDIENCE is the elevator.

    Not every bulleted description will translate this way, or AT ALL. Some of your descriptions won’t help your elevator no matter how you phrase them.

    For example, elevators aren’t smart enough to extrapolate from EXAMPLES to create a universal rule. Humans can. But they’re not YOUR AUDIENCE.

    If you had already posted but received a 00/100, the explanation may be that I didn’t see it in the Riddle category.
