This is pretty clean, PRblog. The instructions are settling in to a recognizable format the longer this assignment stays active.

    A few Notes:

    • – Remain on floor 1 until the summons button is pressed.

There is no need to tell an elevator to wait, to remain, or to delay. Its natural state is inactivity. It needs to be told to move, not to refrain from moving.

It’s also probably true of these instructions that they aren’t “read” in order by the elevator. For the sake of a human reader like myself, you might want to start with the last instruction on your list here. It tells the elevator to finish its operations on the first floor. That’s the elevator equivalent of telling it to wait on the first floor for further instructions, which is your intention.

    • – Move to the corresponding floor based on the pressed summons button.
    • – Light up to display the summons button that was pressed.

I see you’ve put the elevator in charge of lighting the buttons. That’s a choice you can make. I think you’d agree that the elevator will go to Floor 27 if a Summons button is pressed on 27 even if the light does not light. The elevator responds to the press, not the light. Decide if that makes a difference to your instructions.

    • – When you arrive at the floor in which you have been summoned, stop and open the door.
    • – Unless there is activity after fifteen seconds, close the door.

You haven’t actually told the elevator what to do in the case of activity. If you mean that the elevator should stop closing the doors if they’re blocked (or if a sensor indicates something has passed through the doorway) and fully reopen them, tell it that. You won’t have to tell it again to close the doors. You should already have an instruction to close the doors after a specific period of inactivity.

    • – If proceeding up, ignore all down summonses.
    • – If proceeding down, ignore all up summonses.
    • – If motion is detected, close the door when ‘close door’ button has been pressed.

I don’t see what the “close door” command has to do with detected motion.

    • – Unless you are moving, open door the when ‘open door’ button has been pressed.
    • – Once you arrive at the floor corresponding to the button that was pressed, wait fifteen seconds before going to the next summons.

You’ve already told the elevator to stop and open the doors when it reaches the destination floor. What are these 15 seconds?

    • – Once all requests are finished, proceed to floor one.

Even good instructions (and these are quite good) can still be much improved.

I’ll grade this draft as is, PRblog. Put it into Grade Please or back into Feedback Please following any significant improvements.
