Proposal+5 -PatrickTheStar

The pandemic has disproportionately affected marginalized communities, exposing pre-existing mental health disparities. This proposal aims to explore the systemic inequities that have contributed to these disparities, focusing on how the pandemic has highlighted gaps in mental health care access and quality for these populations.

https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s40615-022-01284-9

Background:This journal highlights the mental health crisis that was experienced during a period of isolation and how this affected different ethnic groups throughout the United States. It uses survey methods from the NHIS and evaluates how access to mental health resources was limited among Black,Hispanic, and Asian adults

How I intend to use this: This journal summarizes some key findings that highlight disparities and stressors that presented themselves especially during the pandemic and describes systematic behaviors faced by these populations. What i like about this article is that the authors also include pre-existing disparities that were amplified during the pandemic.

Background: This journal has found that the global crisis led to obvious stressors such as widespread job loss and financial instability and how these problems were specially present in lower income and more diverse communities.

How I intend to use this: One detail that I particularly found interesting in this article is how the authors draw parallels to past global crises and how it has affected ethnic groups such as the H1N1,and Ebola. The needs for mental health resources could not keep up with demand and that affected the reactions and mental stability of those who could not receive adequate care during a time of crisis throughout the world.

Background:The article explores the vulnerabilities and limitation before and after the pandemic as well as how the disruption for face to face care caused a significant amount of psychological distress that can be seen even today and explores different methods and technologies that can redefine individuals access to care in order to improve their quality of life.

How I intend to use this: I want to not only contextualize the disparities but also explore solutions and a unique perspective that this global crisis revealed.

Source 4 :Telehealth utilization during the Covid-19 pandemic: A systematic review

Background:The pandemic saw a need to pivot from traditional methods to newer technologies in mental health that can increase immediate access to mental health resources.

How I intend to use this information:This article identifies the challenges and potential solutions of accessing mental health services while expanding on the need to improve outcomes among dispassionately affected communities.

Background:The world health organization published their early findings into how the pandemic has affected mental health and continues to have effects on the general population. It highlights the prevalence of mental health symptoms and the risk for people with mental disorders.

How I intend to use this information:I intend to use this information by explaining how the pandemic has changed the way that mental health problems are viewed and examine some of its more widespread and direct effects.

Patrick(theStar), I wasn’t able to find this since it was not categorized in your Username category. (It is NOW; I fixed it).

But it’s the ONLY POST I see for you the entire semester. I’m happy to have it, but you’re quite delinquent on small assignments that will make a difference to your grade if they persist.

And now you’re late on your Definition Argument / Definition Rewrite, which makes me nervous for you.
