Robust Verbs – student12121

Vancouver’s huge population of heroin addicts constantly commit street crimes like stealing in order to pay for the heroin. The program “Free Heroin for Addicts” aims to stop the crime by removing the addicts’ reason to steal and providing the heroin for free bit it does nothing to end addiction. The program helps eliminate the unreimbursed hospitalizations due to dirty needles but doesn’t help with overdoses. Overall the program handing out heroin for free will reduce crime but will not solve addiction and the addict population will remain high.

Ag-gag – Burnbook04

New Alec laws are stopping reporters from informing the public about the truth in the farm industry. “New Hampshire, Wyoming, and Nebraska are the latest states to introduce Ag-Gag laws aimed at preventing employees, journalists or activists from exposing illegal or unethical practices on factory farms.” a law like this would only be passed to potentially stop people from thinking for themselves and deciding to put a stop to animal cruelty or vandalism. “Ag-Gag laws passed 20 years ago were focused more on deterring people from destroying property, or from either stealing animals or setting them free.” that is exactly why the Ag-gag law stopped anyways from speaking on what is going on behind the scenes and pushing the public into a “hero” mindset. “HSUS activists videotaped workers kicking live piglets, swinging them by their hind legs and beating and kicking mother pigs. Charges were filed in late December. In January, State Rep. Sue Wallis and Senator Ogden Driskill introduced Wyoming’s Ag-Gag bill which would make it a criminal act to carry out investigations such as the one that exposed the cruelty at Wyoming Premium Farms.” Animal cruelty goes on all across the US and being told that you can’t report or record in certain states in factory farms is heartbreaking. why should that be hidden? animals should be treated with care and kindness until the day they die. animals have feelings and thoughts. “Under U.S. laws, farm animals don’t get the same protection as other animals, such as dogs and cats. Anti-free speech Ag-Gag bills only serve to leave farm animals even more vulnerable to the routine pain and suffering on factory farms. The three federal statutes that address animal welfare, including the U.S. Animal Welfare Act, do not apply to animals raised for food.” Farm animals or not, all animals need to be treated equally, point blank period.
