This wasn’t in the Riddle category.
It is now.
If you had already posted but received a 00/100, the explanation may be that I didn’t see it in the Riddle category.
ohh thank you i could not find where to put it and this is my rewrite.
These are written as INSTRUCTIONS, so you’re clearly understanding the nature of the assignment, which is to directly address a VERY SPECIFIC AUDIENCE of just one reader: The Elevator.
Let’s see how they shake out individually.
#bull; When a Destination button is pressed go to the floor where the button was pressed.
—You’re using DESTINATION BUTTON in a way I don’t yet understand from the list so far; that is, I don’t know if it means the HALLWAY button that summons the elevator to the floor for onboarding passengers going a certain direction, or the INSIDE NUMBERED button that identifies the floor the passenger wants to GO TO. Most of your classmates are using DESTINATION BUTTON to refer to the INSIDE NUMBERED buttons. You can name the terms anything you want that the elevator will understand, but so far DAVID HODGES is unclear what you mean. Let’s continue.
#bull; When arriving at the destination stop and open doors so that people can come in and push another destination button. The person who reached their destination can leave the elevator.
—It seems to me the elevator couldn’t care less whether people come in, or whether they push another button, or leave the elevator having reached their destination. And I’m certain THE ELEVATOR doesn’t care.
So, at this point, I have to suggest that you choose.
—Do you want to write DESCRIPTIONS for a human reader to EXPLAIN the elevator operations?
OR
—Do you want to write INSTRUCTIONS to the elevator that IGNORE any readers who are NOT the ELEVATOR?
It’s the same choice we make in choosing our AUDIENCE for every essay.
And THAT is the point of the assignment: to TAILOR your text to the needs of your AUDIENCE.
Regraded.
Further revisions are always encouraged, and regrades are always available following substantial improvements.
Should you revise, your Beloved Professor will not automatically notice.
So, if you desire a Regrade, put your post back into Feedback Please and let me know you’ve earned fresh consideration.
I’ll decide whether the improvements are substantial.
(Try not to make things worse. 🙂 )
i’m explaining the instructions to human about elevator operations. Can I say i’m not so fond of this assignment
You can and you certainly should. I value feedback, and I know I’m pushing the limits of many students’ tolerance with this one.
I will reward your efforts to write good DESCRIPTIONS for human readers. Put this back into Feedback Please when you’ve done the best job you can on that version of the assignment.
