Core Value 1. My work demonstrates that I used a variety of social and interactive practices that involve recursive stages of exploration, discovery, conceptualization, and development.
I achieved this goal this semester with lots of trial and error. What I mean by this is that I had so much information on my topic I had a hard time explaining my argument how I wanted to. This would lead me to use lots of communication with my professor, leading to massive changes in my work for the better. I would use this communication throughout all of my arguments however I felt as if this argument really showed how I improved throughout the semester. I would also discover many sources and use them all throughout my arguments. I believe with the constant feedback and exploration through sources and using them, that I have developed significantly as a writer.
Core Value 2. My work demonstrates that I read critically and that I placed texts into conversation with one another to create meaning by synthesizing ideas from various discourse communities.
I met this goal this semester by showcasing how I can take my side of the argument and provide an argument against it which I then would read critically and masterfully take it apart. I would go on to compile many resources to go against my argument. By doing this I was synthesizing many different points from different communities and I used my critical reading to prove my argument after thorough investigations. In all I believe I have hit every area that pertains to this section, as I have shown my ability to critically read, the ability to gather many resources, and I have shown the ability to take the ideas from other communities and synthesize them.
Core Value 3. My work demonstrates that I rhetorically analyzed the purpose, audience, and contexts of my own writing and other texts and visual arguments.
I have achieved this goal this semester by always keeping my audience in mind when giving my argument, and a great way I made sure to do this was to explain to them like they have absolutely no information and they have no understanding whatsoever of the topic. I would also keep a goal to myself to make sure I was clear and precise with how I explained my arguments, and this can be said for my own visual argument where I was clear in rhetorically analyzing the purpose. By the end of this semester I believe with this assignment I have met the criteria asked of by providing a clear rhetorical analysis of my purpose, and audience.
Core Value 4: My work demonstrates that I have met the expectations of academic writing by locating, evaluating, and incorporating illustrations and evidence to support my own ideas and interpretations.
I have met this goal this semester by not only having a ton of resources, but within these sources I was able to take away a small chunk which would help me provide more evidence to support my topics. throughout these sources I was able to very easily as my topic was a famous debate. The evidence found in these sources I found would provide all different kinds of ways to take my ideas, which is how I would interpret each one of them and find how and if they can help me prove my claim. In the end, I was able to find an adequate amount of sources and use them to provide evidence and backgrounds into my claim which would help me come to a conclusion.
Core Value 5. My work demonstrates that I respect my ethical responsibility to represent complex ideas fairly and to the sources of my information with appropriate citation.
I have achieved this goal this semester by providing every source with proper citation and representing what the article’s message they are trying to send is. by using these sources they helped me think in different kinds of ways which helped me write each argument. When formating the citations I used the correct APA format we were taught in class. It’s important when citing sources that we don’t plagiarize as we are discrediting the authors work, which I was aware to not do, as I was able to comfortably analyze each source and use it how it fit. In the end I was able to gather my sources and cite the correct way without plagiarizing.
Oddly and importantly, no reader will have the slightest idea what you researched or wrote about. You could achieve a big grade improvement by making some clear claims about the ideas you put in play and how you deployed your evidence to be persuasive.
