A non-sentient elevator that knows only what its told and will respond to instructions whether they are logical or not.
- The elevator responds to all up or down buttons by pressing on the correct floor number button.
- The elevator starts at the first floor. There it stays waiting patiently for someone to press a open button.
- I press the button to go up and my desired floor number the elevator button immediately lights up and goes up
- When I arrived at the fifth floor which is the button I pressed, the elevator stopped and the door opened by itself.
- The elevator is letting me know that I have arrived at the pressing of the button command. The elevator does not wait its doors shut after 8 seconds. Letting me know I have arrived at the desired floor but does not if I will exit or stay.
- The elevator door is now closed.
- I don’t press any buttons and it atomically goes to the first floor. It will remain in the first floor until a button is pressed for otherwise.
- Now the door opens again when two more people press the button Up to enter the elevator.
- They press the button that says 5 indicating to the elevator they want to go to the fifth floor.
- A Down button to the second floor is pressed while it is still on its way to the fifth floor.
- As it is on its way to the fifth floor it stops at the second floor first. Although that isn’t what was pressed first. The elevators commands button atomically go to which floor is closer.
- As it proceeds down it ignores all up summons because it is determined to arrive at floor two.
- After arriving at floor two it then proceeds to finish its first command which was to go to the fifth floor.
- After the elevator doors have closed and has been to both commanded floors. Its door shut and it return to the first floor.
- There it awaits in darkness waiting for someone to press its button to move.
Couple things here, ILoveMe5:
This will not grade well. By now, if you followed the Agenda for WED OCT 08, you will have a better idea of what a successful post looks like. I’ll grade your work here as is, but . . .
I encourage you to revise for this course that emphasizes the importance of revision, ILM5. Put this post into Grade Please or back into Feedback Please following any significant improvements.
