In my research essay, I intend to dissect the value of interpersonal relationships on one’s development and integration into society. In a world where socialization is imperative, how does one determine if they are a successful member of society? I seek to conduct comparative research; and to do so, I first intend to reference the ever-raging phenomenon of school shootings. After a school shooting, the perpetrator’s backstory is often called into question. Were they social? Did they get involved in school activities? More often than not, they were not adequately acclimated to the social environment, which led to a warped perception of society. Alongside data regarding shooters, I want to observe the social engagement of individuals who do claim to be socially active. Do they perceive themselves as extroverts? Are they involved in their communities? Or is there NO connection? While there are so many subtopics that can be acknowledged, these are the primary questions that I hope to answer in my data.

SOURCE ONE

Leng, M., & Song, H. (2023). Contributors to Antisocial Behavior in Adolescence from the Perspective of Developmental Psychology: A Case Study on a School Mass Shooting. Journal of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, 9, 158-165. https://doi.org/10.54097/ehss.v9i.6442

Background: The signs leading up to a school shooter executing his plan. “Meanwhile, at the end of October 2021, Ethan’s best friend moved away and his family dog died, which caused him to become depressed.” This quote is among many others that will help to develop a foundation for my claim that inadequate socialization can cause mental disturbances on a person’s psyche. In this specific reference, the school shooter’s behaviors leading up to the event indicated mental instability, including the change in contact with his best friend. By losing that socialization, that foundation for human contact, the perpetrator fell down a slippery slope.

How I intend to use it: I intend to use this quote to showcase how the lack of socialization, or the change in socialization, in one’s environment can negatively impact their psyche and perception of the world around them if left unchecked. The weeks leading up to the incident are indicators that the perpetrator was already thinking about committing his crime for an extended period of time before it occurred. If he had been properly socialized, if he had someone there for him, he wouldn’t have been considering those things.

SOURCE TWO

(PDF) School Shootings: A Review of the Characteristics and the Psychopathology of the Perpetrators, Accessed 2 Oct. 2024.

Background: The common factors of a school shooting, and the signs that were missed. “‘Shooters were considered outcasts and “weird” but not all of them were “loners”’ [12]. Their peer groups shared analogous interests in violence, making even harder the ‘reality check’ on behalf of the perpetrator [14].” This quote is a strong indicator of what a “typical school shooter” can be described as. Of course, there is no one category, but it is important to note similar aggressive and antisocial behaviors that may indicate hostility.

How I intend to use it: I intend to use this source in a similar fashion to how I will use its predecessor. It will serve as a valuable foundation for my argument of the poor socialization of individuals that leads to poor integration into society and increased hostility and violent behaviors. Even in cases when the perpetrator did have friends, those friends were seen as negative influences, and similar to the individual that committed the crime.

SOURCE 3

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0140197116000488

Background: This source examines the relationship between socialization through friendships and the positive impacts it has on emotional regulation habits. It insinuates that the more socialized an individual is, the better emotional regulation habits they develop as they grow up.

How I intend to use it: I believe that this will be a great resource in the second part of my comparative study, and in aiding the reader’s understanding in what makes someone “socially acclimated”. It is more than simply being extroverted: it is a matter of being able to control oneself and one’s emotions, and understanding and adequately responding to the emotions of others. I want to use this evidence to aid my claim that an individual that has friends, thus being socially acclimated, is able to regulate their emotions better than their “loner” counterpart.

SOURCE 4

https://ojs.library.queensu.ca/index.php/gems/article/view/5062

Background: This source displays data surrounding how loneliness impacts social interactions in middle school students. During one of the most fundamentally influential parts of a young adult’s life, they are their most impressionable in middle school. This is, typically, the time that they start developing the personality traits and belief systems that are going to stay with them into adulthood. Individuals in this age group that are displaying lonely tendencies are going to struggle with social interactions at that time, and they are going to be unable to adequately acclimate to social norms as they grow up and enter the world.

How I intend to use it: I think that this qualitative dataset will provide an interesting take on socialization during a pivotal point in one’s life. As these middle school students grow into teenagers, and begin to have access to more things, the socialization that they experience may determine what kind of person that they become. This data will aid my claim that those who are lonely and poorly socialized are not as well acclimated to society as those who have friend groups and consistently socialize. I want to look into how this research will, if at all, correlate with the characteristics of the quintessential “school shooter” (source 2).

SOURCE 5

https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0284374

Background: The internet behaviors of the “antisocial” individuals of our society are much different than the average social media user. Many individuals that are not adequately acclimated in society will log online to troll people, and post crude content to illicit reactions from unsuspecting users of various platforms. But why? Are they seeking these reactions as revenge for their social inadequacy? Is this their way of interacting with others? Do they want attention or companionship?
How I intend to use it: These behaviors raise more questions than answers, but will provide interesting insight into the behaviors of those who are deemed antisocial. I want to use this data to observe some of the less extreme behaviors of those who are not as well adjusted into society. Not every “loner” is inherently a violent person. Some may just not be comfortable interacting with society face to face, and prefer to retire to the digital sphere, so that their face is hidden, and they have less social norms and obligations.

For my research paper I intend on gathering information on whether or not pets, specifically dogs, that were adopted during the COVID lockdown have more anxiety than other dogs that were adopted or gotten outside of the COVID lockdown whether it was before or after. I’ve noticed with my dog that he has gained separation anxiety when away from me. He was gotten during COVID lockdown and therefore spent everyday with me. I am aware that there are many dogs out there that were gotten or adopted during COVID lockdown for the sake of having a companion. This makes me wonder if dogs that were so used to thawing their owner at home with them then developed anxiety after being separated from their owner for a long period of time. I will be using the research part of my paper to gain general information on how anxiety works for dogs and how the usage of meds for dogs has gone up or down during the after COVID lockdown period.

Separation Anxiety in Dogs

Background: The article is about how separation anxiety works in dogs, possible signs and behaviors that are shown.

How I intend to use: I intend to get a basic understanding of what separation anxiety looks like for dogs, how they feel and act. This will provide a base for my research.

Evaluation of treatments for separation anxiety in dogs

Background: The research in this article is designed to show the effects of ceratin anxiety medications on dogs.

How I intend to use:  Like the first source I intend to get a basic understanding of how separation anxiety works for dogs. This includes understanding the treatments that rea used for dogs to take care of their separation anxiety.

Changes in the health and behaviour of pet dogs during the COVID-19 pandemic as reported by the owners

Background: The research shown in this article is about dogs behavioral changes due ot COVID pandemic.

How I intend to use: This source will be used as the basis of my research. How dogs were affected during and after the pandemic will be important.

Separation-related disorder management through the COVID-19 pandemic: A case report

Background: This article addresses the separation anxiety presented in dogs and how COVID affected it. Regression.

How I intend to use: This article is proof of how separation anxiety in dogs became worse after the COVID lockdown.

Impact of Changes in Time Left Alone on Separation-Related Behaviour in UK Pet Dogs

Background: Survey based research where dogs owners are asked about their dogs separation anxiety before and after COVID.
How I intend to use: This article will either prove or disprove my theory that dogs gained worse separation anxiety after the COVID lockdown.

C.S Lewis writes in Mere Christianity that “The fact that our heart yearns for something Earth can’t supply is proof that Heaven must be our home.” Lewis uses existential themes to justify his apologetic standpoint towards Christianity. In order to define existentialism in a manner that includes Christian philosophy, it is important to understand the context of existentialism. This was an interwar movement that was born of Kierkegaard’s desire to understand an existence that is much bigger than the identity of the individual. The search for a God is an existential search.

His personal history of existential searching led C.S Lewis from skepticism to the Christian faith. Like many other Existentialist Philosophers of his time, C.S. Lewis faced the horrors of World War I first hand. Lewis struggles with the meaning of the suffering he experienced in The Problem of Pain, encouraging others to come to theological solutions to philosophical problems. Defining Lewis as an Existentialist is counterintuitive to those who associate Existentialism with Nihilism, a movement that renders the purpose of life to be meaningless. My goal with this research essay is to uncover the complexities and traumatic origin of Lewis’ philosophy as a Christian Existentialist.

The Problem of Pain, C.S. Lewis

  • A theological essay about human suffering
  • Evidence that C.S. Lewis is an existentialist

Mere Christianity, C. S Lewis

  • A series of radio shows broadcast during WW2 about the core beliefs of Christianity
  • As an account of Lewis’ turn towards face during wartime struggles

A Christian Perspective of Postmodern Existentialism, John D Carter

  • Defining Christian Existentialism and researching its complexities
  • Will explain how Lewis falls into this movement

“The problem of faith and the self: the interplay between literary art, apologetics and hermeneutics in C.S. Lewis’s religious narratives” Chou, Hsiu-Chin

  • How Lewis uses literature as an expression of his religious beliefs

“The Philosophy of Christian Existence” Erich Muller

  • Analysis of the history of christian existentialism
  • Evidence of the impact of war on philosophy

Proposal+5 – RoboFrog

For my research essay I intend to determine that fiction books that use characters or settings from books written by different authors can be considered fanfiction. People read news articles, and their ideas and opinions are influenced by them as a result. Books are no different in this regard. In this essay “fanfiction” will be defined as a work of literature that makes use of characters and/or settings from previous works of literature and changes them to fit a new story while keeping their essence of them as recognizable. That said adaptations are not fanfiction despite using characters and settings from previous works of literature because they are the same stories as the originals just reworded or translated for a different audience.

The books that I am going to be analyzing as evidence is the “Percy Jackson and The Olympians” series. This series uses characters and settings from Greek mythology and puts them into a modern world setting. Throughout the series, the main character Percy Jackson has run ins with the gods and other characters from Greek mythology who at times provide tools and information to aid him, threaten to kill or curse him, or attempt to kill him. It is Percy Jackson and his fellow demigods’ presence as original characters and it being set in the modern world along with the characters and settings from Greek mythology that makes this series fanfiction.

“The Olympian Faith”

Background: The article is about the religion of ancient Greece in reference to Homer’s works.

How I intend to use it: This will help me better understand the source material that is being used in the “Percy Jackson and The Olympians” series.

“RE-DISCOVERING MYTHOLOGY: ADAPTATION AND APPROPRIATION IN THE PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS SAGA”

Background: This article contains information about how Greek mythology was adapted into the series.

How I intend to use it: I intend to use it to help me identify how much was taken from the original source unaltered vs changed to fit the story that has been written.

“The Odyssey”

Background: This book is a translation of Homer’s “The Odyssey”, a poem about Odysseus and his journey to return home after the Trojan War.

How I intend to use it: This is a source from the time of ancient Greece whose contents can be analyzed and compared to the “Percy Jackson and The Olympians” series in the research essay. Quotes from it can be compared to quotes from the series for similarities between them.

“A Companion to Greek Religion”

Background: This book is about all the different parts of the religion of ancient Greece throughout its existence.

How I intend to use it: I intend to use the sections about the ancient Greek gods and how feature in ancient Greek literature to help me better understand the characters from the source material that is being used in the “Percy Jackson and The Olympians” series, which will aid me in my analyzation.

“Percy Jackson and The Olympians” series

Background: These 5 books are about a kid in the modern world who discovers that the Greek gods are real and that he is a demigod, before proceeding to go on a series of quests to save the world. In the first book, “The Lighting Thief”, he is introduced to this world, the camp where the demigods are trained, and sets off on a quest to find the master bolt and return it to Zeus by the summer solstice. In the second book, “The Sea of Monsters”, he and his friends go on a quest to retrieve the golden fleece to save the camp. In the third book, “The Titan’s Curse”, he and his friends go on a quest to save the goddess Artemis by the winter solstice. In the fourth book, “The Battle of the Labyrinth”, he and his friends discover a secret passage into the camp that bypasses its defenses, leading to them going on a quest to find Daedalus in an attempt prevent the Titians and their forces from using the Labyrinth to destroy the camp. In the final book, “The Last Olympian”, he leads his fellow demigods in a final battle to save Olympus from the Titians.

How I intend to use it: These are the books I am going to be analyzing in the research essay to determine if they are fanfiction.

In my research essay I will be examining the implications of AI technology in image and text generation.  As AI image and text generation technology advances more and more I want to bring attention to the negative effects this technology will have on our society in the future.  Since AI technology is often funded by larger corporations, the advancement of this tool has arrived too fast for anyone to really think about what this means.  In order for an artificial intelligence to create something “new” it must first scrub through millions of images, videos, and data of already existing material.  AI’s image generation is simply an amalgamation of everything man already made, but lacking the purpose and novelty of it.  On top of being plain tasteless, it could have disastrous effects on people’s personal lives in the future.  With everyone being so tuned into virtual landscapes like social media, AI image and text generation can become a serious threat when it comes to fraudulent behavior like scamming or blackmail.  Suddenly even if you have a clean slate, someone using AI in the wrong way could use it to fabricate a distasteful or sexual image of you.  The implications of AI image and text generation are straight up dystopian and while there doesn’t seem to be a way to stop it, there definitely needs to be awareness and precaution moving forward.

Proposals +5 – Mongoose449

For my research essay I will recommend a plan to communicate to an unknowable future race of beings the catastrophic danger of my buried nuclear waste. In the modern day, there is nothing from the past that is an unknown danger, no magical trap or unknown toxin. But with our vast technological advancement, we now have those dangers that are unseen, unheard, and only detectable with modern age tools. Nuclear waste is one of those, the remains of fission in a reactor that is radioactive, will take hundreds of thousands of years to fully decay, and cannot be changed. Fortunately, it is easily contained in leaded caskets, stored deep underground in designated facilities, to be left there to safely decay in an unchanging state. Yet what would happen in one, or even ten thousand years in the future, and that in some way or another humanity has regressed or even disappeared entirely, someone discovers this waste storage site, and mislabels it? How do we communicate over an unknown time, that something is dangerous?

Mongoose Sources:

Source 1: Symbols Shifting Culture

Background: As time goes on, symbols of certain aspects in the world change overtime, be it similar to that of the swastika representing peace or rebirth being rebranded to hate and genocide. Time and time again the world changes and so do the interpretation of symbols that we hold dear.

How I intend to use it:

It’s to give a good example of a symbols and how they change. Something that can’t be found in nature, easily made and recognized, yet the meaning changes. The nuclear trefoil is one of those, but what would happen if rather than a hazard, it’s seen as a weapon, even if the items being marked as, it cannot be used as weapons and are a decaying waste that has the shape and marking of a valuable metal.

Source 2: How the English language evolved throughout history

Background: Development of how English has changed throughout the past thousand years, with how it was written to how the way it was spoken.

How I intend to use it: It helps give good examples of how changing language can be, and that English in the future might not be a language the majority of people speak. If a sign was warning us in Latin, the vast majority of people wouldn’t be able to understand it, and most would completely ignore the sign.

Source 3: Hostile Architecture

Background: Architecture is developed now to be hostile away to keep homeless away. It is almost an art, making an area change from one of friendliness or neutrality to one that pulls at your primal thoughts, that the area is dangerous or could be harmful to you.

How I intend to use it: It allows me to poke into the solutions that could be made, as trying to describe a tool or hostile area being made without examples is difficult. It’s easier to explain how a dangerous looking monolith or “forest” could scare off someone or something or create a sense of unease and push them away from the danger without having to tell them.

Source 4: Nature of Fear

Background: Explains the way fear works in animals, how the situation and environment institute fear and unease in someone or something. Something that is a predator or danger to oneself goes toward fear, it goes toward the base instinct, to preserve oneself, and that fear makes them flee, or fight.

How I intend to use it: Knowing how fear works is a great way to both describe fear in a way, and to find solutions that use this primal/instinctual feelings to keep someone away from our danger, without having to tell them with signs or symbols. Having people fear something and teach that fear to their children, AND have something hostile that constitutes with that fear keeps someone away.

Source 5: How the color red influences our behavior

Background: How the color red influences the way humans behave, either how it is represented with certain shades and how it sends signals to the brain.

How I intend to use it: I intend to use it to easily associate something that most people know, to something abstract. Using the color red, you can associate it with positive things that we know, roses, love, etc. But to a group of, maybe tribals, red could be associated with something else, danger, or death. Red as a color itself could be where blood was, which signifies danger. Smelling or seeing blood usually has animals change, be it the smell or the sight, which institutes fear, which goes back to danger.

In my research I essay will examine carbon-plated running shoes. While carbon-plated running shoes are widely acknowledged to help increase performance little is known about their long term effects and their potential to increase injury risk. Carbon-plated shoes are widely used among all levels of runners. From hobby joggers to the biggest stages in running carbon-plated shoes also known as super shoes are used by many. This adds to the importance of finding out whether they increase injury risk.

Do Carbon-Plated Running Shoes with Different Characteristics Influence Physiological and Biomechanical Variables during a 10 km Treadmill Run?

Background: This study looks at the biomechanical effects of running in a carbon plated shoe over time. This is one of the only articles that uses a longer time.

How I Intend To Use It: I intend to use this study to show that the cause part of my hypothesis is true. Running in carbon-plated shoes changes ones form over time. Other studies did not have the athletes run for as long as this one. It describes the biomechanical differences.

Leg stiffness during running in highly cushioned shoes with a carbon-fiber plate and traditional shoes

Background: The study looks at the differences between traditional shoes and carbon plated shoes. While they find no difference they only looked at the runners for a short amount of time.

How I Intend To Use It: I can use this article to add nuance to my paper and show that the changes only happen over time. This confirms an implied part of my hypothesis which is that the shoes are safe for limited periods of time.

Effects of Advanced Footwear Technology on Running Mechanics and Performance

Background: This article studies the effects of the carbon plate on the biomechanics of a runner. They found a redistribution of load to be the result of a carbon plate.

How I Intend To Use It: The article establishes that the plate does in fact redistribute load among lower leg muscles and tendons specifically that the plate reduces work around the ankle and the dorsiflexion muscle.

THE MEDIOLATERAL CENTER OF PRESSURE MOVEMENT DIFFERS BETWEEN
TRAINING AND RACING SHOE
S: A CASE STUDY

Background: This article looks at the load and stride pattern of an elite athlete during a workout. They find that some differences in loading are present and that caution should be used when using racing shoes due to the athlete altering their form and its shock absorbing effectiveness.

How I Intend To Use It: I intend to use the findings of this study to show that the changes in loading fundamentally change ones form and can lead to an increased risk of injury.

BIOMECHANICAL AND ENERGETIC TRENDS IN RESPONSE TO 8 WEEKS OF
TRAINING IN ADVANCED FOOTWEAR TECHNOLOGY

Background: This study looked at runners using a carbon-plated running shoe compared to a traditional racing flat over 8 weeks. They found that the MTP and Ankle joints were effected by the carbon plate.

How I Intend To Use It: I will use this information to help show that repeated use of carbon-plated shoes does in fact lead to changes in ones form and redistribution of muscular load. These include decreased ankle plantarflexion velocity and increased ankle dorsiflexion velocity in carbon plated shoes.

Proposal+5—Burnbook

Does being black result in receiving less attentive nurses, doctors, or proper health care? As a black woman myself I’ve personally experienced some bad nurses and doctors who misdiagnosed me or didn’t take adequate care to figure out what was truly wrong with me. For example, for almost 2 years straight I would just randomly black out without explanation. When my mother and I would go to the hospital or doctor appointments no tests were run on me almost all the doctors would shrug and say they had no idea and for me to sleep it off. I want to know if care is less efficient towards black people. A survey was taken and 47% of black Americans say health care has gotten better while 31% say it’s stayed the same in the past 20 years the remaining 20% say it’s gotten worse. Neglect or malpractice causes a lot of black Americans to stay away from doctors because of the fear of dying at the hands of a doctor before the illness. There was a story of a black couple in Georgia preparing to bring a healthy baby into the world. On the day the Georgia mother went into labor the only expectation was bringing home a healthy baby. Instead, they left with tears and no baby. The baby was unfortunately killed at the hands of the doctor delivering the baby. The doctor tugged on the baby and then decapitated the poor child. The hospital tried to cover up the baby’s death by forcing the parents into getting the baby cremated immediately. “It’s diabolical in my mind,” Edmond said. “That they tried to force her to get the baby cremated to basically spoil the evidence. That they lied to them saying, ‘You can’t get a free autopsy at the expense of Clayton County.'” says Dr. Roderick Edmond. This is just one of many stories and I believe unfortunately won’t be the last. The real reason behind black Americans receiving less proper health care is because people think that being black makes you 10x stronger than the average person. This will never make sense to me because if you peel back everyone’s skin we all bleed the same.

The lack of knowledge about diet contributes more significantly to the obesity epidemic in America than the lack of exercise. While physical activity is an important factor in maintaining a healthy weight, the overwhelming commonness of misinformation on nutrition pushed on us by exploiters who want your money plays a crucial role in the rising rates of obesity.

  1. https://www.vox.com/2018/1/3/16845438/exercise-weight-loss-myth-burn-calories

Background: This article supports the argument that exercise is not the solution to extreme or healthy weight loss. It debunks the myth of exercising to burn calories and not care about what you are necessarily consuming.

How I Intend to Use it: I intend to use this article to debunk the idea that exercise is used as a way to counteract food intake. Many people believe that engaging in physical activity primarily serves to burn off the calories consumed through meals, promoting a cycle of guilt and compensation. However, I propose a different perspective that instead of viewing exercise solely as a means of weight maintenance or calorie control, it should be embraced as a holistic practice that enhances overall well-being and mental health.

2. https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/01.atv.0000186208.06964.91

Background: This article titled “Fast Food, Central Nervous System Insulin Resistance, and Obesity” explains the relationship between fast foods and how they affect the human body. The article describes the link between fast food and obesity and how society over the past 30 years has given into the unhealthy lifestyles that are normalized by the food industry now, more than ever.

How I Intend to Use it: I intend to use this article to define what insulin resistance is and describe how it works and plays an important role in the issue of obesity. The article provides more factual and statistical evidence that will support my hypothesis.

3. https://www.arianehundt.com/post/what-the-fitness-industry-doesn-t-want-you-to-know

Background: This article titled “What the Fitness Industry Doesn’t Want You to Know”, talks about the skewed belief that exercise is the key to weight loss and that the fix is the eat less and exercise more.

How I Intend to Use it: I intend to use this article to show the audience how fitness sources can give harmful advice. Telling people that they need to exercise more and eat less just leaves them miserable, as this process of living will only last so long. It keeps the obese person on a loop, trying more plans, exercise routines, and gyms. When in reality, Americans need to follow a more whole foods diet.

4. https://www.thedailybeast.com/how-the-fitness-industry-gets-rich-doing-nothing/

Background: Titled “How the Fitness Industry Gets Rich Doing Nothing“, this article sheds light on the truth behind gym membership plans, and dietary pills.

How I Intend to Use it: This article helps my claim that the gym industry and fitness equipment ads are scams, as they lure obese people looking to lose weight by showing them an easy fix to their problems. Instead of emphasizing a healthier diet, they tell them to buy gym memberships and equipment or dietary pills, which are a fast but temporary fix to the issue. It never truly fixes their problem but instead has them continuously returning and paying more money.

5. https://www.piedmont.org/living-real-change/diet-vs-exercise-for-weight-loss#:~:text=According%20to%20Colleen%20Alrutz%2C%20health,to%20keeping%20the%20weight%20off.

Background: Titled “Diet vs. Exercise for weight loss”, this article supports the hypothesis that diet is more effective than exercise. It explains how both diet and exercise can be used for weight loss success but how it is more effective for a person to make changes in their diet for long-term health.

How I Intend to Use it: I intend to use this article to show how both diet and exercise are effective ways of solving the obesity epidemic and living a healthier lifestyle, but that they should be used in different ways. Diet is a long-term way to solve the issue, while exercise should be used for leisure activity, mental health success, or therapy.

Proposal +5 – Goat81

In my research article, I will look at the relationship between artistic expression and technical execution in Olympic ice skating. Despite the widely held view that artistic abilities improve overall performance and are required for competition success, I suggest that a greater emphasis on artistic expression may lead to a decline in technical performance.

Recent studies in sports science have demonstrated a significant shift in scoring criteria over time, with an emphasis on artistic presentation rather than technical proficiency. For example, an examination of Olympic scoring trends reveals that, while artistic ratings have risen, technical scores for many elite skaters have remained stagnant or even decreased.

How I intend to use it: This source will be used to support my claim that there has been a shift in judging priorities, specifically the trend toward favoring artistic presentation over technical execution, as evidenced by historical scoring data.

https://usfigureskatingfanzone.com/news/2019/12/16/davis-and-white-lead-us-figure-skating-hall-of-fame-class-of-2020.aspx(McNeil, 2020)

This is concerning because Olympic ice skating is basically a sport that blends technical ability with artistic expression.

How I intend to use it: This research helps to illustrate the core argument that both aspects of skating—artistic and technical—should remain balanced, and that any significant shifts could undermine the sport’s integrity. The study highlights the importance of sports science in tracking performance metrics.
