Core Value 1. My work demonstrates that I used a variety of social and interactive practices that involve recursive stages of exploration, discovery, conceptualization, and development.

When I first started researching my topic (coronavirus) there was a lot of information to be discovered. I started looking up different sources and discovered that the information on the virus changed every day because of the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic. The information used in my definition essay was dated back to January and late February. At the time the information was coming out of China and was unreliable. When I wrote my definition rewrite I was able to look back on the data that I acquired and compare it to the new information and form an opinion based off of that.

Core Value 2. My work demonstrates that I read critically, and that I placed texts into conversation with one another to create meaning by synthesizing ideas from various discourse communities. 

In my opinion in the beginning my topic was way too broad. The sources that I had at the time gave some information but not was a lot was know about the topic. This caused my definition essay in the beginning to lack the information it needed. Once I found the proper sources with proper information and wrote my rewrite the essay clearly got better and my point got across better.

Core Value 3. My work demonstrates that I rhetorically analyzed the purpose, audience, and contexts of my own writing and other texts and visual arguments.

My audience and purpose of the essay was up in the air. When I started to write my Rebuttal essay I realized that I should shift my audience to show the why the virus is worst than the flu. This changed completely because in the beginning my hypothesis why this virus wasn’t an issue. Due to the fact that I looked at other works and analyzed the purpose of my articles means that in the end I was able to form a better hypothesis.

Core Value 4: My work demonstrates that I have met the expectations of academic writing by locating, evaluating, and incorporating illustrations and evidence to support my own ideas and interpretations.

My Research Paper shows how I found sources to support my hypothesis. Through my essay it proves that I have did my research because of the fact that I was able to quote my findings and use them to support my overall hypothesis.

Core Value 5. My work demonstrates that I respect my ethical responsibility to represent complex ideas fairly and to the sources of my information with appropriate citation. 

In my essays, I have cited all of my sources. In the Annotated Bibliography portion of my portfolio it shows how all of my sources were used. Through this assignment I was able to gather all of the information required for my sources and easily showed how I used them throughout my essays.
