God is Fiction, not a Fact

In this world, there are a couple different kinds of people. The ones who believe in God, the ones who don’t believe in God, and the ones who sort of believe in him. My whole essay is about the fact that God is real but what if he isn’t. The original essay attempted to provide evidence from biblical references but it is very important to examine the arguments that we made and consider alternative perspectives. From a Christians perspective, it is sometimes understandable that God isn’t real. So I will now debunk my original claim, and try to see this from the other side.

I was reading this article and it made a very interesting point: “There are lots of philosophical, theological and even scientific arguments for God’s existence. But none of them can conclusively prove that the God of the Bible is the real and only God. This is because God exists outside of our universe and is not subject to our testing. So we rely on revelation to know about God—we can only know what he reveals to us.” I know that was a long quote but I think that it is important to look at. There is no proof, anywhere, that God actually exists. How can someone who no one has ever seen exist?

The original essay relied mostly on specific bible verses to support the claim that God is real. However, it’s very important to understand that the interpretation of these verses can be different among different people and different religions or traditions. The Bible is a very complex book that requires a very careful understanding of its cultural context. Isolated verses would be useless as a definitive piece of proof without the other interpretations of it. Along with this, the essay ONLY chooses Bible verses to confirm the belief in God. It’s very important to approach the question of God’s existence with an open mind and consider the different perspectives and evidence rather than to selectively focus on information that already has some sort of evidence.

Let’s look deeper into one of the claims. The essay tried to claim that the wars in Israel are due to a prophecy being fulfilled. It says that the regathering of Israel and the conflicts in those parts of the world are evidence of biblical prophecies being fulfilled. However, these events can also be explained by political factors, human actions, and different types of societal developments. It’s important to consider other explanations and not rely solely on religious interpretations of what is currently happening. I’m sure we can find a religious interpretation of everything that has ever happened but that doesn’t mean it’s a prophecy.

This essay shows a personal belief in the existence of God and attempts to provide evidence from biblical references. The interpretation of verses can vary, different biases may influence the selection of verses to use, and cultural factors should be considered before making a claim. It’s essential to approach the question of God’s existence with an open mind and respect for other viewpoints.

  1. Deadbeat FaceBook Friends

It seems counterintuitive that lenders and credit companies are judging applicants based on social media status. New companies like LendUP and Neo have been using social media profiles as a way to gather data about incoming applicants. They examine facebook friends or LinkedIn connections to judge whether a person gets a loan. Their reasoning is if a person has stable social relationships and activity then it shows they have a stable life. These judgements are unfair for a few reasons, a lot of people do not choose to prioritize their social media accounts. That choice is completely valid and should not affect a person’s financial life. Unless someone is posting obvious plans to scam a lending company their social media should be left out of the books. This also leaves room for personal biases which can go highly unregulated. There is no way to accurately find people who can separate their values enough to judge social media. The Federal Trade Commission will not comment on the ethics or accuracy of this newfound situation. If we let our ruling bodies ignore these unfair policies we will only be faced with extremely judgemental policies later on. This whole situation will ultimately end with lenders having less customers, which does not seem like a good thing for business.

  1. Men Define Rape

It seems counterintuitive that men have defined rape despite largely being the perpetrators. Throughout the ages they have decided what rape is, each time they have minimized the weight of the issue. Calling it “property theft,”  which completely ignores the effect it has on the woman. Or changes the consequence of the crime based on the woman’s status. Each time men define rape they do it unsuccessfully, because it is in their benefit to minimize it.

  1. How to Armor Planes

It seems counterintuitive that when we were learning how to armor planes we armored the places that received the most fire. During World War II we studied the planes that returned and armored the places with the most bullet holes. But if the planes made it back with those bullet holes how effective is it to armor those areas? It’s not. The planes that didn’t return had to have had damage to these areas. So few planes that returned had damage in these areas. With this information you can deduct that we have to armor planes in the areas with the least amount of bullet holes. This idea was largely disputed because people didn’t want to really digest the data.

(0:00-0:04)

A family is walking in a foyer. The son is trying to get the mom’s attention. We see the dad walking up the steps. As the mom is coming out of the room she was in to get to her son, they look over to a back room we cannot see just yet and she says “What are you doing in there” to indicate that someone is doing something they shouldn’t, hence the reason her son was getting her.

(0:05-0:08)

It pans over to the room they were going to where we see a little kid stuck in a dog carrier. The mom starts pulling her out.

(0:09-0:11)

It flashes to outside of the next family’s house where we see a boy running in front of it with something in his hand.

(0:12-0:15)

The same boy who was running outside is seen trying to put a frog on his sleeping sister with the dad in the background saying “Don’t do that.”

(0:16-0:22)

There is a dad going through his toolbox looking for the pliers. He turns around to his son handing the pliers to him.

(0:23-0:27)

two kids and a mom are sitting on the floor in a kid room with open presents. It seem that one of the kids opened the presents before they were suppose to.

(0:28-0:31)

It shows a grandpa and the mom exchanging a hug while a little girl is running up the stairs yelling “bye grandpa.”

(0:32-0:44)

It shows a little girl grabbing something underneath her parent’s bed. The dad walks in and asks what she is looking for. It shows her crawling out and the pans to the dad. His face seems scared and he throws his hands up. We assume that she found a weapon. It pans back over to the little girl and she’s holding up a toy gun. The dad falls to his knees and they exchange a laugh together.

(0:45-0:48)

It pans over to the safe under the night stand in that same room with the dad and daughter laughing in the background.

(0:49-0:57)

It moves to a black screen with white writing on it.It discusses how kids find everything, including guns.It says how safe storage saves lives. We see this is true because of the safe in that room.

Causal argument-777sunflower777

God isn’t just a word we use to explain the mysteries we cannot explain. I say this because it’s my opinion and it may be other people’s opinions who might read this as well. I see this sort of like a video game. We have our main character and then the people who help him out. God sent Jesus to Earth in hopes of saving mankind. Jesus died for us to be saved from our sins. Whether you believe in him or not he will always be there for you. Jesus had a huge impact on this planet. And because of him many prophecies are starting to be fulfilled. So because God sent Jesus, Jesus made prophecies, and now these prophecies are starting to happen within the world. Some of these prophecies include, the drying of the Euphrates river, false prophets, the war in Israel, the mark of the beast and the four fallen angels.

In the first article I read to take a better look at the Euphrates river, I saw that yes it is still a huge river but there are some parts that have diminished over time. Those parts have revealed caves underneath the river. In the Bible, Jesus states in Revelation 16:12,  “And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.” And I know what you’re thinking if you don’t believe in God, it’s all some big coincidence and because of global warming of course the river will start to show signs of drying up. But to people who believe in God, it’s not just a coincidence, it’s happening because he said it will.

In the next article I referenced, I found a list of people who have been claiming to be Jesus. These people include and are definitely not limited to Inri Cristo from Brazil, Alan John MIller from Australia, Apollo Quiboloy from the Philippines, Vissarion from Siberia, Oscar Ramiro Ortega Hernandez from the United States, Bupete Chibew Chishimba from Zambia, Wayne Bent from New Mexico, and Ann Sahng-Hong from South Korea. Jesus stated in Matthew 7:15,”beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inward they are ravening wolves.” He als says in Matthew 24:24, “For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even elect.” What he is saying is that even people who look like you and I will be claiming to be him and we have witnessed some of those people. These “false prophets” will do whatever they can to get us to believe that they are Jesus and were sent by God.

In the next article I referenced, I wanted to go more in depth into the wars in Israel. The article was saying how Russia and Persia formed a bond that Russia recently signed a billion dollar deal to sell missiles to Iran. Now this starts my point because in the Bible, it is written that in end times, Israel will scatter and regather. After the Holocaust happened no one thought that the Jewish people would ever regain control of their homeland but on May 14, 1948 Israel became a nation. In Ezekiel 37-38 Jesus talks about the regathering of Israel and how it would be attacked by a large force from the north called Magog. This all ties together because Russia is to the north of Israel. This is where the craziness happens. Why would Russia ever want to attack Israel? Well, if Russia is Magog,  then they would want to attack Israel with one of their allies. Persia is now one of Russia’s allies because of the billion dollar deal and the old name for Persia was Iran. It all ties together.

To finish this up, like I said, this is more for people who already believe in God but if you don’t, thanks for still taking the time to read. Because God sent his son Jesus, and because Jesus talked about these prophecies that are now being fulfilled, in my own opinion, that would prove that everything God does is real.Which would also lead me to say that I truly believe that God isn’t just a word we use when we don’t know how to explain something we don’t understand. He’s a word we use to explain everything the world has to offer, but still remember that he’s the reason behind these things. He’s the reason behind everything.

Reflective—HurtNowitzki

Core Value 1. My work demonstrates that I used a variety of social and interactive practices that involve recursive stages of exploration, discovery, conceptualization, and development.

I feel that I best demonstrated my understanding of Core Value 1 in almost all of my assignments. In particular during the overall construction of my research paper. Exploration being me figuring out what it was I wanted to write about as well as my hypothesis. Discovery being taking my newfound topic and doing further research on tit and compiling it with prior knowledge. Conceptualization being planning on how I was going to take my hypothesis of “Deion Sanders being the best recruiter in college football” and break it down into the 3 different areas of Defintition/Categorical, Causal, and rebuttal. Development was best represented during my stages of revision or rewrites, where I added repositioned portions of my essay so it would flow well when the final piece was finsihed

Core Value 2. My work demonstrates that I read critically, and that I placed texts into conversation with one another to create meaning by synthesizing ideas from various discourse communities.

I feel that I best demonstrated my understanding of core value 2 in my rebuttal portion of my research. I demonstrated my critical reading by going through my multiple sources who have critiqued Coach Prime’s actions as Head Coach of The Colorado Buffs and finding flaws in their claims and exploiting them in my writing. On the subject of placing texts into conversation I feel as though the contents of my rebuttal essay are satisfactory.

For example: Wasserman makes a claim in regards to Coach Prime’s blunt honesty with his players and their value within the team,  “That’s treating players like commodities, and it’s a tough sell for future recruiting efforts, both in the high school ranks and in the portal.” Even though there may be some truth to this statement, it seems Wasserman may have a small amount of bias when it comes to Coach Prime and his team.

In presenting the oppositions claims and then providing my rebuttal as well as detailed evidence from multiple sources I brought together to prove the same point. I believe I properly created meaning in proving that Coach Prime’s antics were more beneficial than negative by synthesizing ideas from various sources/communities.

Core Value 3. My work demonstrates that I rhetorically analyzed the purpose, audience, and contexts of my own writing and other texts and visual arguments.

I believe that I demonstrated core value 3 in my Stone Money essay. In the stone money essay we were tasked to take the information given from the numerous sources provided about the early foreign currency of limestone and then assess how the world values different types of currency vs. what it actually is. In my essay I understood that because I was going to be talking about the idea of general currency my readers would likely be my age or older. Therefore, when I referenced moments from my childhood I made sure to reiterate my proposed connection between the way my cousins and I viewed our beyblade pieces as a form of currency and the people of Yap with their limestone.

Core Value 4: My work demonstrates that I have met the expectations of academic writing by locating, evaluating, and incorporating illustrations and evidence to support my own ideas and interpretations.

I believe that I properly demonstrated my understanding of Core Value 4 in my research essay. Due to the short list of resources provided about my topic I had to go through numerous google searches to try and pull the information to prove my point. I also had to go through the same extensive process to look for a rebuttal for my proposal. In my research essay I went as far as incorporating and quoting a YouTube video from famed sports analyst Stephen A. Smith, in doing so I believe I displayed a sense of versatility in my writing that maybe others have not. All in efforts to prove my point that Deion Sanders “Primetime” persona is a good thing for college football.

Core Value 5. My work demonstrates that I respect my ethical responsibility to represent complex ideas fairly and to the sources of my information with appropriate citation.

I believe that I demonstrated my understanding of Core Value 5 in both my Stone Money Essay and final research paper. On the subject of representing complex Ideas Fairly, in my stone money essay I started off briefing my readers on the history of “Fei” within the people of The Island of Yap I then began to connect it with events from my childhood and finished off connecting that to Video Game Currency. Without twisting what original authors spoke of in their texts I was able to appropriately reference them and establish the connections effectively. When it comes to the appropriate citation portion I am quite fond of the effectiveness of my research paper. When quoting articles or any media, I understand that it is crucial to properly cite resources to avoid plagiarism infractions.

Definition—chich

The Boeing 737 Max is one of the biggest controversies in the aerospace industry. It was at the time a new addition to the 737 family that promised an enhanced flying and fuel-efficient experience for both passengers and pilots. The Boeing 737 Max was believed to be the “new era of air travel” and was aimed to redefine the aviation industry. It was designed for 6 years and according to the New York Times, it was focused on being cheaper and more efficient. What makes things heartbreaking is that employees at Boeing were excited to work on this project. It was an excellent and tremendous engineering company and almost without failure they point to a degradation of that mindset and that safety suffered as a result. Its main innovation was introducing the MCAS which was designed as a system on the plane to smooth out the way the plane handled. It was designed for situations a plane would never get in and uses the stabilizers to push it back down. Which eventually became a glitch in the system, that led to two very tragic crashes that killed hundreds. This paper is focused on why these things happened in the first place and what corrective actions Boeing could use to prevent this from happening.

Now let’s first start with the history of Boeing till the 737 Max. In its early years, William Boeing first established the Pacific Aero Products Corporation which was eventually named Boeing Airplane Company. The first major aircraft made was the Boeing 247 which was a twin-engine airliner that was made into a key bomber during World War 2. During the 2000s, Boeing developed the 787 Dreamliner which innovated fuel efficiency. Then in 2011, Boeing launched the 737 MAX series. Over the years they mainly focused on technological advancements for future pilots to need only minimal training. That’s when they added the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS) in 2017 in the Boeing 737 MAX which then led to the infamous tragic accidents in 2018 and 2019. After these accidents, the Boeing company had to face legal charges and had to ground the Boeing 737 MAX.

The Boeing 737 MAX series is like most of Boeing’s designs, a twin-engine commercial aircraft. The Boeing 737 was the best-selling aircraft in the world, with more than 15,000 planes sold. It was designed as an upgrade from the famous 737 design by using larger engines to match the improved fuel efficiency of their competition “Airbus”. Boeing claimed that the 737 MAX was so similar to the original 737 that pilots who are already licensed wouldn’t need extra training and simulator time. However, because Boeing increased the engine size, these engines had to be positioned higher on the wings. These new positions and larger engines destabilized the aircraft, depending on the angle, the airplane’s inertia can cause the plane to overswing into a stall. To address increased stall risk, Boeing developed a solution called MCAS. MCAS takes readings from the angle of attack sensor to determine how the plane’s nose is pointed relative to the oncoming air. The software automatically acts if the angle is too great. Boeing designed the MCAS so it would not turn off in response to a pilot manually pulling the yoke. This defeats the whole purpose of the MCAS, which is to prevent the pilot from inadvertently entering a stall angle. Boeing believed the system to be so innocuous, that even if it malfunctioned, the company did not inform pilots of its existence or include a description of it in the airplane’s flight manuals.

MCAS is suspected to have played a significant role in both of the fatal crashes. There was a glitch in the system and during Lion Air flight JT610, MCAS repeatedly forced the plane’s nose down, even when the plane was not stalling. The MCAS system was also dependent on one single sensor making it open to erroneous readings. The pilots tried to correct it by pulling the nose higher, but the system kept pushing it down. The plane was losing 600 feet of altitude within seconds. Pilots had to adjust the pitch trim every few seconds. It was a nightmare in the cockpit as the pilots did not even have sufficient time to consult the Boeing checklist. At 11:32 UTC, Lion Air Flight 610 crashed in the Jawa Ocean with a 40-degree steep nose downwards with the system repeatedly announcing “PULL UP TERRAIN PULL UP TERRAIN” killing all 189 crew and passengers onboard.  The company believed that the Ethiopian Airlines crash showed a similar pattern in that MCAS was also involved.

In response to these problems, Boeing made some improvements to Boeing 737 MAX, after the two fatal crashes. First and foremost, he developed the MCAS system and provided more software updates. These updates were intended to identify problems with the single angle-of-attack sensor and stop the plane from moving its nose down too far. Boeing also made improvements to the 737 MAX pilots’ training. Training courses and guides were offered to help people comprehend the MCAS system’s unanticipated actions.

In conclusion, People cannot bend complex systems to their will. Boeing tried to change it to force an economic change and to save more time. But these changes are risky and come with heavy consequences. Sometimes you also have to realize not everything you think will work is good for everyone else. People with confidence and power have a lot of responsibility, That’s why it’s important to be careful with this responsibility and pay attention to the consequences.

Self-reflective statement-RebelPilot64

My self Reflection of this semester

Core Value 1. My work demonstrates that I used a variety of social and interactive practices that involve recursive stages of exploration, discovery, conceptualization, and development.

What I did to achieve this goal during the semester this year, is that I used different ways of writing depending on what type of assignment that I was doing. Another thing that I did was, I also learned by using different sites and sources that I was doing depending on the assignment as well. Something else that I learned was also using the sources on different sites as well as making an assignment based on viewing something visually, acknowledging the opposite opinion  of my argument  which was on the rhetorical assignment as well as writing my three-thousand-word essay as well. These examples are many reasons why I developed so much during the course of the semester this year on exploring new ideas and looking at different points of view.

Core Value 2. My work demonstrates that I read critically, and that I placed texts into conversation with one another to create meaning by synthesizing ideas from various discourse communities.

I met that goal this semester by reading my articles thoroughly through and by looking at many different types of sites when I did my research on my topic. I learned different points on making an argument while looking at the different articles that I viewed. I looked at ways to read and review different articles I learned on what is a good way of putting ideas together in my own words as well as I could to show others what I was thinking and feeling. I also did a lot of reading and research in order to put the topics together too when doing the different work on my projects in order to make my project have a strong well thought about argument and well rounded as well.

Core Value 3. My work demonstrates that I rhetorically analyzed the purpose, audience, and contexts of my own writing and other texts and visual arguments.

I met that goal this semester this year by going into details in my visual rhetoric arguments. I described my opinions to the audience in order to show them what I was explaining while on the video during that assignment. I tried to show as many details as I could in order to make a big idea on what the frame was all about by just looking at it even though they were not telling you what the scenes were about. You had to talk about the different scenes yourself though by just making inferences. I talked a lot about making inferences because I made inferences based on what I was seeing in my observations. In the end this really helped and changed me a lot in the long run.

Core Value 4: My work demonstrates that I have met the expectations of academic writing by locating, evaluating, and incorporating illustrations and evidence to support my own ideas and interpretations.

What I did this semester in order to meet that goal was, making sure that I tried my best when I was working on my assignments even though some of them were challenging for me to do. In order to help support my own way of writing, what I did was, I looked at different quotes in different articles in order for me to help myself prove that what I am trying to prove to other people has good support. I also evaluated my own ideas by explaining the quotes that I put into my work that I did in order to have good proof on why this matters to others and I alot. In the end using my academic writing had a really big impact to make my work the best I could do.

Core Value 5. My work demonstrates that I respect my ethical responsibility to represent complex ideas fairly and to the sources of my information with appropriate citation.

During the semester this year, I always made sure that I cited my sources correctly in order to make sure that I did the assignment properly. I use a citing source as well to make sure that the sources that I used for my assignments were properly sorted so that I would not lose as many points. Another thing that I did was, I made sure that the cites that I used for my work were sources that had good explanations on what they were talking about in the article. I also made sure that the source was actually something that was credible and not an unprofessional opinion site like reddit. While what I was writing about was an opinion, I wanted to make sure that the sources that I was using were a proper way of stating opinions.

PTSD Claims – Puffer

Section 6

“’45 percent’ of kids in one small study ‘reported significant PTSD signs’; ’83 percent reported elevated hostility scores.”

This is an example of a factual/numerical claim, as it presents specific numerical data that can be objectively proven or disproven based on the study methods used and their results. Factual/numerical claims can be based on facts used to state a claim and Numerical claims are based on numbers to make a claim.

I asked the lead scientist, Marinus van IJzendoorn of Leiden University, what might account for other studies’ finding of secondary trauma in vets’ spouses or kids.

The statement is considered a questioning claim because it presents a question about a specific topic. In this case, The author is expressing curiosity and seeking info from the lead scientist, Marinus van IJzendoorn of Leiden Univerity, about the possible reasons or factors that might explain why studies have found evidence of secondary trauma in veterans’ spouses or children.

But then in 2003, a team of Dutch and Israeli researchers meta-analyzed 31 of the papers on Holocaust survivors’ families, and concluded—to the fury of some clinicians—that when more rigorous controls were applied, there was no evidence for the intergenerational transmission of trauma.

This is an example of a contrastive claim as it is evident in the opposing views presented: on the one hand, the team of researchers concluded that, with more rigorous controls, there was no evidence for the intergenerational transmission of trauma in Holocaust survivors’ families. On the other hand, that statement notes that some clinicians were furious about this conclusion, suggesting a disagreement or contrast in perspectives within the field. Contrastive claims highlight differences, contradictions, or opposing viewpoints to underscore the complexity or controversy surrounding a particular issue. In this particular case, it emphasizes disagreement between the researchers’ findings and the clinician’s perspectives.

PTSD Claims- Youngthug03

“It wasn’t an official diagnosis until 1980, when Post Traumatic Stress Disorder made its debut in psychiatry’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders”

This is a factual claim made by the author. This is giving the time and definition of PTSD. It is seen throughout the article that PTSD is seen differently; however it always is defined the same way. Due to the definition of PTSD and the signs and symptoms of it not changing, it is a fact which makes this a factual claim.

“If they make an appointment at the VA and can’t get in for several weeks, how do they eat, they want to know, in the meantime.

This is an ethical claim because it talks about how vets will try to make an appointment at the VA but not be able to get in for weeks. This is one of the main issues in America, which causes many vets to become homeless due to not being able to get jobs once they get out because of PTSD they have or not having any family left to fall back on. This is a combination of both emotions and ethical reasoning to support this claim.

“When you’ve become hypervigilant, the place you are most functional is on the battlefield,” McGill’s Brunet explains. Caleb, despite his injuries and his admission that war was pretty excruciatingly awful, told me he wishes he could go back. Kateri, despite wishing her system hadn’t learned to run at a heightened state, at this point is like a drug addict, needing stimulation to maintain it. For the first time since Iraq, her husband felt at peace, and was able to enjoy a steak dinner with his wife. “He just sat there,” Kateri says. His normalcy “was so distressing to me that I wanted to stab him.”

This is an attributive claim because the author uses what others have said to him to help prove his claims and support his ideas.

She used to ask Caleb what was wrong, why he was coiled so tight and poisonous, screaming and yelling at everybody.

This is an example of an analogy and categorical claim because it explains how he was affected by PTSD, and the effects include him yelling at everyone and being unable to control his emotions.
